Mridula Swaminathan .... the Art lover's delight

Little Mridula was always seen scribbling in her drawing books ever since she could hold a crayon. She was fond of stories from Indian Mythology that soon caught her attention for line drawings as subjects. By the age of 7, she was spending most of her free time with creative doodling and drawing figures & forms from her text books and story books. She was a favourite with her drawing teachers and started participating in Art competitions through her school. At the age of 9 in her grade V, she was elected the President of Art club in her school, DPS Sharjah.
A few Art classes at various hobby centres in Dubai and Chennai could not feed her curiosity to learn different techniques. With some initial guidence and motivation from her teachers at school and unconditional support of her parents, she started following various online tutorials on the internet and was inspired to apply those techniques coupled with her own imagination and instinctive experimentation. She is currently persuing a Junior Diploma in fine Arts from Pracheen Kala Kendra, Chandigarh.
An avid reader, she never ran out of inspiration to draw and paint something new everytime. Soon, the Indian folk and traditional art forms began to attract her. Warli, Madhubani, Rajasthani Phad, Kalamkari & Kerala Mural have been very close to her heart. Now, at the age of 11, with over a 100 artworks in her art files, she strives to follow her imagination passionately amidst her studies and other activities.
In the sections that follow, her paintings on a wide range of subjects and different mediums can be seen.
The images below provide a glimpse of her passion for Art through her early years.
